On Self and Identity - SHIVAM JHARWAL

We start by stating that the concept of self and identity is a multifaceted area of study in psychology. It encompasses how individuals perceive themselves, how they form their identities, and how these perceptions and identities influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Understanding self and identity is crucial for personal development, interpersonal relationships, and psychological well-being. The concept and the understanding , science behind it has been looked upon from ages , even before The Bard of Avon [ you know who (: ] expressed it through the famous theatrical plays. Frankly speaking the development of self is about discovering a psychological truth deep inside, while also keeping a check upon one's ego and a healthy self esteem. Erikson also proposed that individuals go through a series of stages, each with its own unique challenges and developmental tasks and successfully navigating these stages contributes to the formation of a strong and coherent sense of self.
